Bion's Kreider Farm Project

The Bion's Kreider Farm Project is a dairy and poultry waste treatment initiative aimed at reducing nutrient loads in the Chesapeake Bay. Renewable energy production from the dairy waste stream is also planned for the project. The waste treatment project is located in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.

Project Impact:
The Bion's Kreider Farm dairy waste treatment initiative is expected to generate approximately 130,000 nitrogen credits and 16,250 phosphorus credits. The poultry waste treatment initiative is currently certified as reducing Chesapeake Bay nitrogen by 559,457 pounds but a new EPA watershed model (with improved pollutant transport algorithms) could boost the nitrogen reduction estimate to 1.5 million pounds.
